Fort Worth, TX - In an announcement made today by Tarrant County Commissioner Roy Charles Brooks, he revealed his decision not to pursue re-election in 2024. Alongside this announcement, Commissioner Brooks shared his endorsement of Roderick Miles, Jr., his Executive Administrator, as the ideal successor on the Commissioners Court.
"For two decades, I've had the honor of serving both Precinct 1 residents and the wider Tarrant County community. Together, we've fostered stronger neighborhoods, tackled critical issues including healthcare accessibility for the homeless, infant mortality, healthcare disparities, and equitable healthcare access. These years in public service have shown me the qualities and dedication required for this role. Roderick Miles Jr. has all those qualities and is ready to serve on day one. That's why I wholeheartedly endorse Roderick Miles to step into the role of County Commissioner for Precinct 1," Commissioner Brooks declared.
Roderick Miles Jr., deeply connected to Tarrant County as a lifelong resident, holds strong community ties. Growing up in Precinct 1, Roderick has a history of devoted public service. Over the past nine years, he has worked alongside Commissioner Brooks as his Executive Administrator. In this capacity, Roderick has spearheaded community outreach, engaged with residents, and overseen vital initiatives across the precinct, spanning Public Health, Education, homelessness, childhood obesity, human trafficking, truancy and reentry efforts, among others.
