Fort Worth, TX - The recent story published by the Fort Worth Report reveals to the public the deep and concerning connection between Tarrant County Judge Timothy O’Hare and the radical political action committee, Defend Texas Liberty PAC. Public information in the story indicates that Judge O’Hare accepted $87,500, and his Chief of Staff, Andy Nguyen, the former 2022 Republican nominee for Tarrant County Commissioner Precinct 2, accepted $51,000 in contributions from the PAC. In response to this news, Roderick Miles, a Democratic candidate for Tarrant County Commissioner Precinct One, has issued the following statement:
It's become painfully evident that certain radical political agendas, which starkly contrast with the values of Tarrant County residents, are being aggressively pushed into our local government. This was glaringly showcased when Tarrant County Judge Timothy O’Hare, representing the Republicans, openly and unjustly criticized the esteemed local non-profit, Girls Inc of Tarrant County. What's more, he conveniently sidestepped addressing the $87,500 he accepted from a political action committee with known affiliations to the white supremacist and antisemite, Nick Fuentes.
Judge O’Hare's audacious critique of the $115,000 funding for Girls Inc of Tarrant County, suggesting it was "deeply ideological," is a blatant attempt to undermine programs that empower Black girls and Latinas. As a father to two Black daughters, I see this as nothing less than a partisan attack, a clear manifestation of the Republicans' intent to sow division in our communities.
Furthermore, when confronted about the $87,500 political donation from the notorious Defend Texas Liberty PAC, Judge O’Hare's evasive response was emblematic of a lack of leadership and responsibility, merely claiming ignorance of the group's extremist ties.
I've been a proud resident of Tarrant County and Precinct One all my life, and I know the genuine warmth and unity of our community. We stand for mutual respect, progress, and the well-being of every individual. The blatant promotion of divisive and hate-driven political agendas by Republicans on the Tarrant County Commissioners Court is a direct affront to our residents. Now, more than ever, we must rally together, confront these divisive forces head-on, and champion the vision of a united and progressive Tarrant County.
